Don't focus on getting hired now. What you need is experience, and that doesn't mean you have to be in the biggest companies. This experience also goes beyond acting; costume, makeup, sets, lighting, all that behind the scenes work is always in need of help and will look good.

Audition for school and local community theatre plays and musicals (pretty much every town has them, you just have to look - newspapers, phonebooks, community bulletins, online, etc). Taking voice, dancing, and acting lessons can help you better understand your craft and gives you an advantage over others. Keep auditioning and performing, you will get better as you go.

Network yourself, get your name out there, but make sure not to fall for any scams (don't go looking for agents yet, anyone who wants you this early in the game is scam, as well as if they ask for money upfront).
